He's done it!

The Rev John Howard has walked the 268 miles of the Pennine Way, in a little under three weeks - and raised what he hopes will be something over £2,000 for the Methodist-based charity Action for Children.
"I walked the Pennine way in sections when I was in my late twenties but I have always wanted to walk it end to end," said John. "As I looked at what was and was not possible during this autumn, it seemed that this was something that I could do, it would raise money for Action for Children and fulfil an ambition at a time when many other activities were impossible."
Cash is still coming in so the final figure could be even larger. If you want to push John's total higher, you can donate to John's Just Giving page by clicking here.

Some of the things we did during the first lockdown...
The Rev Graham Cutler is our new minister. This is what he says about himself:
"We have crossed the Pennines from glorious Lancashire to a place which is all very new to us, The Land of the Prince Bishops.
With a long background as an electronics engineer in Research & Development, I have spent the last 19 years serving as Presbyter in two circuits in Lancashire.
We are enjoying discovering this beautiful dale, along with my wife, Jude and our faithful dog, Boris.
Jude and I have two adult children, Naomi and Nathanael, in whom we delight.
Our reason for being here is simple: to share in the worship and work which the Lord has given to the churches here, namely to love as Jesus loves, to follow His Word (Matt.5:16-18 RSV) and to make disciples - fully committed followers of Christ. I have a deep appreciation of the traditional but a desire to communicate in the present.
We have experienced such a warmth of welcome here and perhaps, over time, you will get used to my sense of humour (maybe?!)
Blessings, Graham

And these pictures, from last year, are a reminder of all that we've been missing... !
On Saturday 13th July, 2019, a group of ministers and Local Preachers from Darlington and Barnard Castle and Teesdale Circuits enjoyed an Away Day at The Pathway, Middleton-in-Teesdale.
After a time of worship and sharing work was done on developing peer review for preachers in the 2 circuits. Following lunch Communion was shared then some intrepid explorers travelled to Bowlees and walked to Gibson's Cave and Summerhill Waterfall (see photo). On the way they wandered around the old quarry and discovered how to identify spotted, scented and butterfly orchids and various other wild flowers thanks to Jenny’s botanical knowledge.
Photos shows: Simon, Ian, Peter and Jennie, Bev, Jenny, Lorne, Alan. Others who attended but are not on photo- Solomon, Philip, Brian, Margaret, Sheila |
